Special skills
  1. Flare chop: a chop that is initially thrown with the palm down, but then flips upwards and act as a block or remove.
  2. Swirl and smash: Thrown fighter clockwise or counterclockwise this technique is used to swirl the opponent into a guillotine and then smash or strike the vital areas of the neck in one fluid motion. The swirl portion can be used to control, lock, choke, or throw an opponent.
  3. Crossover punch:This punch crosses over the body center line to strike the opponent. this punch is fairly well hidden and the opponent usually can not see it coming. It must follow the step out for the hip to generate power and momentum into the punch. Otherwise this particular punch is powerless. Other systems of naihanchi feature this punch thrown from a static position and they demonstrate very little power
  4. Step over and strike:The step over portion is a defense against a low kick, but the landing can be used to generate force into a counter strike. Typically this is done in an instance when the arms are blocked out so the opponent resorts to low kicks
  5. Stepping throw:A basic trip with the rear foot at the same moment as the throw
